HOW THIS WORKS

Submit the Cause

5 Minutes to Pitch

Guidelines for pitching your cause

This is how it works:

  • When we get into the virtual meeting we will have a meeting presenter who will lead us through our meeting.
  • Members will be instructed to put their interested recipient of funds in chat room.
  • The meeting presenter will spin the wheel and three names will be selected.
  • Three individuals will pitch their cause.

The member’s name who is randomly drawn must be prepared to give the pitch. She may not elect someone else in the audience or an employee from the non-profit to give the pitch. Only one nomination/vote is allowed per member.

  • Time Limit: 5 minutes to present your cause, followed by 3 minutes of Q&A.  These are timed.
  • Introduction: Introduce yourself and the name of the ministry/project you are recommending for funding
  • Be Prepared to Discuss the Following Details:
    • What is the ministry or project’s mission, history, and impact on the community?
    • How many people does the ministry or project serve on an annual basis?
    • How will the ministry or project benefit from this gift?
    • Will the funding be earmarked for a specific program or cause?
    • How many people do you anticipate these funds will benefit?
    • Is the ministry a 501c3.
    • What is the ministry or project’s operating budget?
    • What are their funding sources?
    • What percentage of the funding goes to overhead and administrative costs?
  • Make it Personal:
    • What is your connection to this charity?
    • Can you provide any examples of their success stories or the people they have served?
  • End with a Heartfelt Thank You!
  • Voting of Members
  • Announcement of Recipient

*Members can either get information about the ministry or project by researching it online or by contacting the involved individuals directly for help answering the questions. Potential recipients may even help in writing the script to tell the complete story in an impactful way.

**In case of a two-way tie the Members will run another vote to determine between the top 1 & 2 initial voting choices.  If there is another tie, then both of those two top voted choices will go back on the wheel for a spin off to select the winning recipient.

Important Guidelines for Recipients

  • Once an organization/individual is selected as the winner, there is a 12-month waiting period before that organization or individual can be pitched again.
  • It is our hope that the winning organization, individual and/or member who pitched, would share the impact and use of funds at the next quarterly meeting.
